Who is Walter de Rooij?

I am a former system administrator, former database administrator, former CEO of a personal security company, former CEO of a financial advice company and lots of other former things.

However, that has little to do with this blog. As a former IT person that did not exercise I am no stranger to weight gain. And as you already probably know, gaining weight is easy. Losing weight on the other hand is a lot harder.

And that is precisely why I started this blog. This is where I will share my experiences on losing weight with you. Let me tell you my story first.

When I was younger I was very active. I used to swim, do windsurfing, martial arts, cycling and I have tried lots of other sports as well.

However, when I changed career paths and went into IT I became lazy.

There really was no reason for that, it just happened. As I started exercising less and less I started eating more and more, especially junk food. This caused me to gain weight at an incredible pace.

Then came one morning that I will never forget. I walked past a full size mirror in a hotel and I didn’t recognize the guy I saw in the mirror. I could not believe what had happened to me.

This is when I realized that it was time for me to take action and change things.

I tried varioius diets, all of which I’ll review at one point or another, before settling down on a plan that works very well for me.

I hope you’ll be able to put the information that you find here to good use. I would love for both you and I to reach our weight, health and/or fitness goals
